It started as a false emergency call — a 911 report of a brutal murder in progress that sent officers racing to a quiet suburban neighborhood. But what police expected to be a life-saving mission turned into a deadly confrontation caught on bodycam, as a 17-year-old suspect who faked the call suddenly ambushed an officer with a knife.
The shocking incident took place just after 9:00 p.m. on a Thursday evening in Harris County, Texas, when dispatchers received a frantic call from a young male claiming he had just “killed someone” and was “covered in blood.” The caller refused to give his name but provided an address in a residential area on Willow Ridge Drive. The tone of the call was calm but eerie — and officers believed they were dealing with a possible homicide suspect waiting to surrender.
According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, multiple patrol units were dispatched to the scene. “When we receive a call of that nature, our top priority is securing the area and ensuring no one else is in danger,” Gonzalez said at a press briefing. “But this one was unlike anything we’ve seen.”
When deputies arrived, their body-worn cameras began recording the unfolding chaos.
